My magazine received a lot of praise and people said that my photography was good and that the rave genre was shown throughout my magazine.
- On my contents page, i should add more information to it as it looks a bit bland.

This is my final Contents Page for my magazine.
This is my final double page spread for my magazine.
Question 7- Looking back at your preliminary task (the school magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full production?
My skills have developed greatly since i started my prelim task. I understand a lot more about magazine fro example their termonoly with words such as masthead, cell lines and puffs. I also carried out research in costume and photography research, this allowed me to have a much clearer underestanding about what my target audience would like to see in my music magazine so i designed my product to suit their interests. I feel that my skills have developed a lot in the technology also such as in design, photoshop, blogger and i also used final cut and other online software, all of this enabled me to make my product more proffesional.
As a result from my research and planning my products are more detailed and show a much better understanding of the forms and conventions of a real music magazine. I feel that my blog was very good showing different types of media software i used to show my work.
During the tasks that i have completed the time managment has been very well and i have achieved to get my work in for all of the deadlines. This allowed my product to becoma proffesional standard.

Question 3- What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
What companies would distribute my products ?
I would probably sell my magazine firstly to independant newsagents, and then if my magazine would sell well and there was a general good feeling about it i would then move on to considering about selling my magazine to a big wholsaler, possible retailers such as Wh Smiths and supermarkets like Tesco, Morrisons, Asda and Sainsburys. My product would be shown against others of its type like mixmag magazine or vibe magazine this would probably lead to my magazine gaining a bigger audience.
If i was to ensure bigger publicity i would use Web 2.0 to advertise my products on such social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter or Youtube.
The process of magazine publishing ?
The publishing process includes the development of the product Graphic design, production printing, marketing and distribution. But i think that the key process is thinking of an idea for a new magazine and then doing some private research into similar products to the type of magazine that you wish to create then you would move on to making flatplans of your magazine then make a step forward to actually constructing your magazine and the editing which you need to make to it. The last process of publishing my magazine is the marketing and distribution of my magazine. After all this is done it would lead to my magazine being realesed to the market.
I feel that my magazine could be distributed among other magazine such as Vibe or mixmag. My magazine containts typical conventions of these kinds of magazines.

Question 2- How does your media product represent particular social groups?
I have represented this social group by the way in which i portrayed my magazine one example of this is my magazines masthead "Electric" because it is very bold and in your face, alongside the bright striking colours of black and yellow which represent a kind of dance/ rave feeling. In my music magazine the artists that are featured are very upbeat and fast paced alike my social group. The images on my magazine also fit my social group well you can tell this by the bright make-up and sequin clothes wish are very dance/rave. Her general appearence goes well with the wild feeling alongside her social group.

The technologies i used were:
Photoshop and different tools to help me create my product in a more professional way. For example the healing tool so that i could hide spots and blemishes on my models face. I did this because to add to the professional look of my magazine. Photoshop was also very useful in helping me lay out my magazine, this allowed my magazine to look better.
I used blogger to show the progress of making my products but also to show the changes that i had made to my products.
The other technologies i used to help me with the process of creating my products were, final cut, slide share, powerpoint and glogster.
I used in design to help me create my Contents page and double page spread this enabled me to make my product neater and more professional.
I used Prezi's a lot to present my production these showed my ideas and research. I also used prezi to show one of my evaluating questions.

Question 5- How did you attract your audience ?
I used mix mag magazine to help me to come up with some ideas to help my create my magazine. One of the ideas that i had which had a close comparison to mix mag magazine's front cover was to put my models image on my front cover, as a close-up. I did this so that you could focus more on her appearance for e.g her bold eye make-up and lips alongside her quirky jewellery. My mast head is very bold and stands out clearly against the background of my front cover a like mix mag magazines mast head.
The colour scheme of my magazine is all black and yellow mainly i did this so that it will maintain it's simplicity because that is what i aimed for my magazine to look like mix mag magazine's front cover and colour scheme.
For my contents page i did not really take many ideas from other magazines except for the simplicity of the magazines contents pages. I used a the same font throughout and the same colour scheme as my contents page. The title of my contents page is very bold and stands out alike the masthead on my front cover.
The stylish decisions that i made for my magazine was that i wanted my front cover to be very bold and in your face which i believe fits in with the genre of my magazine being rave/ dance.

Question 5- How did you attract your audience
My model on my front cover got a good report towards the make-up and costume of my model, this also alongside my masthead meant that my magazine could be identified as a dance/ rave genre of magazine. They identified my magazine as fitting the social group of trendy. This person said that they would purchase my product because of the good lay out and the eye-catching features included within my magazine, but maybe a way of improving my magazine could be to include more detail on my double page spread.
This certain person said that the first thing that grabs their attention about my magazine is the model on the front cover and her pose, along side the use of colours on the page. This person guessed my genre of dance and rave. The strengths of my magazine were identified as mainly the images as they were very appealing. The social group was recognised for young teenagers who were interested in electric music and fashion. They said they would purchase my magazine because it is the type of magazine that they are interested in. If they could make any improvements for my magazine, was that they would like to have seen a bigger masthead which would focus on the topic of my article.
The first thing that grabbed the attention of the person was the front cover and the alignments of the text also the bold mast head. They guessed the genre of my magazine of dance/ rave, they said this fitted together with the title of my magazine as 'Electric'. This person thought that the social groups that my magazine represented was dance music and people who are 'ravers'. This person said that they would purchase this magazine. If any improvements could be made they would be spending more time on the double page spread but also spending a little bit more time on the contents page as it looked like it had been produced quickly.
The first thing that grabbed the attention of my reader was the front cover, the image because it was in your face and also the text colour because it was yellow and black which contrasts with the genre of my magazine. The genre of my magazine was suggested to be mainstream because of the models make-up and the way in which the model is looking at the camera. The strongest aspects of my product were the images and the way that it is laid out, and the cell lines. This particular person suggested that the social group of my magazine was mainstream/ pop music. This person said that they would not buy my magazine because it is not the type of magazine or music that she listens to. If this person was going to improve my magazine, would be to not have the image written over the text because you cannot cleary see the image also she suggested that i would include more cell lines on the front cover to give a clearer idea to my audience about what my magazine is about.

EXCLUSIVE
Tom Cassidy tells us about how his life has changed since his break- up with Rihanna !
Last year Radio One's Dj Tom Cassidy suffered with depression after his fiancée, r and b singer Rihanna had an affair with Tom's brother. Tom has not been working on the radio one show until now, as he makes a massive come back!
Electric magazine exclusively interviewed Tom to see how he was doing.
In the summer last year Tom's fiancée, r and b singer Rihanna had an affair with Tom's brother just weeks before Tom and Rihanna's wedding. After Tom found out about Rihanna's Cheating the couple immediately split resulting in Tom being left in a state of depression.
Where have you been the past year?
Since the break up i admit, yes i have
been hiding away. As soon as the
split betwen me and Rihanna

after i had cleared my head, i went back
to New York to record some songs..
As for now i am staying in London and
have planned to not go away for a while.
What was your initial reaction when you
heard about Rihanna Cheating?
When i first found out about the
affair i was not shocked because
i had been having my suspicions for a while.I was more
shocked by the fact that it was my own brother that slept
with Rihanna.
There were rumours that you were taking
drugs after the split, are they true?
these are simply just rumours that were
startedby one of my prior best friends.
It was started so that she could gain
money, but without this friend of mine
realising that they have lost me for good
after targeting me when i was most vulnerable.
A year later have you been sucesful in finding yourself
love once again Tom?
Yes i have been very sucesful i believe, as i have started
a relationship with the wonderful Kim Kardashian, i met
her when i interviewed her for the show and we just
hit it of imediately since then.
Have you got any plans for your future now Tom,
is there anything that is going to lead to a big
breakthrough for you ?
I am planning to set my career off again starting with
and single i am currently producing with Lady GaGa
and that should be released this spring. Also i am
just about to promote my new after shave that should be
released soon.

Recce of Location
I took my photos in this park because it was a newly built park and it is more quirky which i think fitted the genre of my magazine better.
I decided to not take the pictures of my model in this park because it was old and there was not much to use in the park to make my pictures as 'weird' as i wanted them to be.
I wanted to use a plain brick wall for my model to stand against for the images on my double page spread. I liked the images that the brick wall produced as they looked different.
Organising Costume & Props
FRONT COVER
Make-up
I bought this make-up to use for my model it is very vibrant and it shows up very easily i feel that this matches my rave and dance genre very easily.
Costume
For my front cover my model is wearing a sequin boob-tube, i decided for my model to be wearing this because it fits in very well with the genre of my magazine. I went shopping to find a sequin boob-tube and i found one in a charity shop.
My model is wearing on ear ring because it is 'weird' and i wanted my magazine to look like this after researching other music magazine covers with a rave/dance genre and found images of artists such as Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj and noticing there quirky outfits that they wear in there photo shoots.
Doing my model's Hair and make-up
I styled my models hair in a 'fish-tail platte', these images show me styling her hair for the photos.
These are images of me doing my models make-up for the photo's.

Font Research
Font Ideas For Front Cover
I think that both of these fonts would be ideal for my front cover because they are both bold and they stand out therefore they will grab my audience's attention easily. Both of these fonts also fit the genre of my magazine giving a rave and dance feeling to the magazine. Because the font is shown to be very in your face and quite shocking.
Font Ideas For Contents Page
I would use these fonts for my contents page because they fit the genre of the magazine but they also fit in with the photos on my contents page.

Photography Test Shoot
(Photo 1) This is a medium close up of my model, and in my final product i would like my image to be a close-up mainly focused on my models facial expressions. The image is landscape and if i were to use the image it would be on my double page spread. I like this image because i find that it is very plain and the model looks really simple but i feel that she is dressed to Indie and she is holding a boquet of flowers, this does not particullary show my genre style which is dance/ rave. When i do my actual finished product i will have my model wearing brightly coloured make-up where as in this image the models make-up is more subtle and less noticable.
(Photo 2)This image is a long shot, it shows my models body language and it shows what she is wearing. This photo is more directed towards a double page spread rather than my front cover because it does not focus on what i would like my model to actually look like.
(Photo 3) This image is a close-up it shows my models facial expressions. This image would be more suitable for a double page spread as it is landscape and not portrait. This image would be better if my model was dressed and her costume was more directed towards the dance and rave audience which is intended for my magazine.

Prelim Evaluation
In my media product i have had to develop on a lot of my ideas one example of my developing was that on my magazine cover my model for the main image was wearing a dress and the background was all white, but i changed this on my professional magazine because i wanted my model to look like a "casual" "trendy" college student just stood in the park which, is an attraction to a lot of the college students. The white in my magazine symbolises calmness and purity suggesting that the college is a chilled out relaxed place to study. I have used the colour purple in my magazing which can imply a sense of royality and luxury in attending queen elizabeth college, i have also included the colour green in my magazine which can influence maybe the idea that other students from other colleges should be jelous of QE students and also the colour green can suggest the idea that QE is environmentaly friendly.
I feel that my media product represents different social groups because on my front cover i have an image of my model as a "typical" teengaer which most of the QE students are she is porttrayed wearing trendy but yet casual clothes this is what most QE students wear. I have used this for the front of my magazing because it suggests to students that it is a magazine for normal people who are like them.
The audience for my media product would primarly be aimed at the college students where there ages variey from 16-18 years, i think that my magazine is directed at both male and female audience's because it gives information which is aimed at both sex's. The interests of my target audiene is what a general teenager is interested in music, fashion socializing, college etc.. I attracted my audience by using bright colours and a bold font this will easily catch my audiences eye. My model on the front cover of my magazine is photographed in Stanope Park which is the park opposite the college this is a place were a lot of students "hang-out" out the majority mainly on a lunch time or break time, this can show my audience that this magazine is purposed to the majority of Queen Elizabeth not just the people at college that are stereotyped as "Geeks".
Whilst constructing my prelim i have learnt different ways in which doing my work, I have learnt this by using different software's that I was unaware of until I started my project like indesign and photo shop which i had never used also blogger, i have found all these softwares very useful in the process of completing my work one thing i found very useful was the fact that you can insert sell lines into your work so that you could make it neat and straight. I had never used apple macs before creating my media product i feel that i have benefited from using them because they are very good in helping me in the work that i had to complete. The cameras that i used for my front cover of my magazine were very good and helped the whole look of my magazine dramatically with theire high resolution and a large mega pixel which was a lot better than say using a camera on a normal camera which usually has a low mega pixel or say a mobile phone in which the quality of the photographs is usually very poor. Overall i feel that the technology I have used had benefited my work by making it look a lot more presentable but also enabling me to do my work step by step in easy ways.

Prelim Flatplans
The colours that I have chosen for my flat plan are pink green and blue, the reason that i have chose these particular colours are because they are bright and are bold so therefore it will catch my target audiences eye, i did not highlight my main cell line in colour because i want it to be bold and black so that it will stand out more, although i have highlighted to of my other cell lines and rotated one of them so that it will be more noticeable. I have used the colour pink to show that it is a feminine and flirtatious colour and also included the colour blue which is quite masculine but also quite sensitive, to show that it is a college were boys and girls attend. The colour green i have applied to my front cover can show to other college's that they may envy the college.
The layout automatically portrays an idea to my audience what my magazine is about my mast head is bold and large font i have deliberately made the large font so that it will be easily reconisable as being the title of my magazine.
I have decided that i will take and image of a young girl dressed in a good fashion to convey an image to my readers that this college is quite fashionable.
These are some examples of the fonts i am choosing to use for my mast head:
|
This font is more classic and would be good to be used as a college font as it is the font used by many american colleges, and i think that it would look classy used as my font for my mast head. |
