Costume and Props

Pitch Reflection

Article Planning

Peer Feedback

People of my age said that they thought my magazine looked really professional. I got a few suggestions regarding changes i could make to my magazine they were

  1. On my contents page, i should add more information to it as it looks a bit bland.
  2. Add more information on my double page spread.

My magazine received a lot of praise and people said that my photography was good and that the rave genre was shown throughout my magazine.

This is my final double page spread for my magazine.

Question 7- Looking back at your preliminary task (the school magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full production?

My skills have developed greatly since i started my prelim task. I understand a lot more about magazine fro example their termonoly with words such as masthead, cell lines and puffs. I also carried out research in costume and photography research, this allowed me to have a much clearer underestanding about what my target audience would like to see in my music magazine so i designed my product to suit their interests. I feel that my skills have developed a lot in the technology also such as in design, photoshop, blogger and i also used final cut and other online software, all of this enabled me to make my product more proffesional.

As a result from my research and planning my products are more detailed and show a much better understanding of the forms and conventions of a real music magazine. I feel that my blog was very good showing different types of media software i used to show my work.

During the tasks that i have completed the time managment has been very well and i have achieved to get my work in for all of the deadlines. This allowed my product to becoma proffesional standard.

Question 3- What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

What companies would distribute my products ?

I would probably sell my magazine firstly to independant newsagents, and then if my magazine would sell well and there was a general good feeling about it i would then move on to considering about selling my magazine to a big wholsaler, possible retailers such as Wh Smiths and supermarkets like Tesco, Morrisons, Asda and Sainsburys. My product would be shown against others of its type like mixmag magazine or vibe magazine this would probably lead to my magazine gaining a bigger audience.

If i was to ensure bigger publicity i would use Web 2.0 to advertise my products on such social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter or Youtube.

The process of magazine publishing ?

The publishing process includes the development of the product Graphic design, production printing, marketing and distribution. But i think that the key process is thinking of an idea for a new magazine and then doing some private research into similar products to the type of magazine that you wish to create then you would move on to making flatplans of your magazine then make a step forward to actually constructing your magazine and the editing which you need to make to it. The last process of publishing my magazine is the marketing and distribution of my magazine. After all this is done it would lead to my magazine being realesed to the market.

I feel that my magazine could be distributed among other magazine such as Vibe or mixmag. My magazine containts typical conventions of these kinds of magazines.

Question 2- How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I have represented this social group by the way in which i portrayed my magazine one example of this is my magazines masthead "Electric" because it is very bold and in your face, alongside the bright striking colours of black and yellow which represent a kind of dance/ rave feeling. In my music magazine the artists that are featured are very upbeat and fast paced alike my social group. The images on my magazine also fit my social group well you can tell this by the bright make-up and sequin clothes wish are very dance/rave. Her general appearence goes well with the wild feeling alongside her social group.

The technologies i used were:

Photoshop and different tools to help me create my product in a more professional way. For example the healing tool so that i could hide spots and blemishes on my models face. I did this because to add to the professional look of my magazine. Photoshop was also very useful in helping me lay out my magazine, this allowed my magazine to look better.

I used blogger to show the progress of making my products but also to show the changes that i had made to my products.

The other technologies i used to help me with the process of creating my products were, final cut, slide share, powerpoint and glogster.

I used in design to help me create my Contents page and double page spread this enabled me to make my product neater and more professional.

I used Prezi's a lot to present my production these showed my ideas and research. I also used prezi to show one of my evaluating questions.

Question 5- How did you attract your audience ?

I used mix mag magazine to help me to come up with some ideas to help my create my magazine. One of the ideas that i had which had a close comparison to mix mag magazine's front cover was to put my models image on my front cover, as a close-up. I did this so that you could focus more on her appearance  for e.g her bold eye make-up and lips alongside her quirky jewellery.  My mast head is very bold and stands out clearly against the background of my front cover a like mix mag magazines mast head.

The colour scheme of my magazine is all black and yellow mainly i did this so that it will maintain it's simplicity because that is what i aimed for my magazine to look like mix mag magazine's front cover and colour scheme.
For my contents page i did not really take many ideas from other magazines except for the simplicity of the magazines contents pages. I used a the same font throughout and the same colour scheme as my contents page. The title of my contents page is very bold and stands out alike the masthead on my front cover.

The stylish decisions that i made for my magazine was that i wanted my front cover to be very bold and in your face which i believe fits in with the genre of my magazine being rave/ dance.

Question 5- How did you attract your audience

My model on my front cover got a good report towards the make-up and costume of my model, this also alongside my masthead meant that my magazine could be identified as a dance/ rave genre of magazine. They identified my magazine as fitting the social group of trendy. This person said that they would purchase my product because of the good lay out and the eye-catching features included within my magazine, but maybe a way of improving my magazine could be to include more detail on my double page spread.

This certain person said that the first thing that grabs their attention about my magazine is the model on the front cover and her pose, along side the use of colours on the page. This person guessed my genre of dance and rave. The strengths of my magazine were identified as mainly the images as they were very appealing. The social group was recognised for young teenagers who were interested in electric music and fashion. They said they would purchase my magazine because it is the type of  magazine that they are interested in. If they could make any improvements for my magazine, was that they would like to have seen a bigger masthead which would focus on the topic of my article.

The first thing that grabbed the attention of the person was the front cover and the alignments of the text also the bold mast head. They guessed the genre of my magazine of dance/ rave, they said this fitted together with the title of my magazine as 'Electric'. This person thought that the social groups that my magazine represented was dance music and people who are 'ravers'. This person said that they would purchase this magazine. If any improvements could be made they would be spending more time on the double page spread but also spending a little bit more time on the contents page as it looked like it had been produced quickly.

The first thing that grabbed the attention of my reader was the front cover, the image because it was in your face and also the text colour because it was yellow and black which contrasts with the genre of my magazine. The genre of my magazine was suggested to be mainstream because of the models make-up and the way in which the model is looking at the camera. The strongest aspects of my product were the images and the way that it is laid out, and the cell lines. This particular person suggested that the social group of my magazine was mainstream/ pop music. This person said that they would not buy my magazine because it is not the type of magazine or music that she listens to. If this person was going to improve my magazine, would be to not have the image written over the text because you cannot cleary see the image also she suggested that i would include more cell lines on the front cover to give a clearer idea to my audience about what my magazine is about.

Question 4- Who would be the audience for your media product

I made a wordle to show words that describe the audience of my magazine

I used glogser and created a poster that represents the target audience of my magazine. I think that the reader of my magazine will most likely be a mix between females and males so i have focussed on moth male and females. My poster shows that my target audience of my magzine cares about their appearence because of the brand Lacoste but also that the women tend to dress in very skimpy outfits showing of their figures.
The music that my readers will probably be interested in regarding my magazine which is mainly focussed on dance and rave, i have shown pictures of artists such as Rihanna, Calvin Harris, New Monkey and Dubstep.
